FJ62 Fusible Link Replacement Kit

Regular price $385.00 $0.00 Unit price per

As most of us know, Toyota discontinued our precious FJ62 fusible links. The remaining global supply has just about dried up. So what do you do if your fusible link blows? You can find a used one or have it rebuilt, but how long do you want to keep stringing your electrical protection along using 1880s technology in a 1980s truck? And finding a used one or having the link rebuilt doesn't help when your link blows in the middle of the backcountry.

Luckily we're in the 21st Century and there are fuses that not only offer the same (and better!) protection for your Land Cruiser, but are available at nearly every auto parts store! Starting from that concept I built the fusible link replacement kit to upgrade your truck's electrical protection system in an elegant way and easy way. This kit comes fully assembled: install the bracket, bolt down the fuse box, and make a few connections. While this kit is not 100% plug & play, it's very close. Most connections are ring terminals that just need a bolt or nut to hold them down, or plastic connectors that snap together. There are three wires that need  crimped to butt splices, but don't worry, it's easy. The butt splices are already crimped onto the FLRK wires so simply crimp them to three wires in the engine bay and you're good to go. The splices are even made of heat shrink material, so after crimping get them hot and you'll have a sealed connection!

See photos for installation location. The area around your windshield washer fluid reservoir must be free, since that’s where the bracket & fuse panel will be installed.

No corners were cut when designing this kit, everything is as high of quality as I could find. Let's face it - protecting the wiring of your truck is an important safety concern. Nobody wants to watch their vehicle go up in flames! Yes, you can source cheap fuses on Amazon, for example, but they do not have datasheets verifying how fast they blow and at what threshold - which indicates a lack of certifiable quality control. The Littelfuse fuses have all the data to back up their quality. The same goes for every part of this kit.

This kit includes a larger cable from the fuse panel to the alternator, which lowers the resistance as the alternator charges the battery. This typically nets an increase of roughly 0.5-0.7 volts at idle when tested on several 60 Series trucks. This is especially great for improving voltage at idle - let's say it's a rainy night and you're at a stoplight. The headlights, wipers, and HVAC blower are on and causing a significant voltage drop from all the current they're consuming. The larger charge cable will help alleviate that drop and the consequences, such as dimming headlights when stopped. Your results may vary due to the condition of the rest of your wiring, alternator health, etc, and I can't guarantee what improvement you will see, if any.

If you are in need of replacement battery terminals I recommend the "Fastronix Top Post Military Spec Battery Terminal and Cover Kit" on Amazon.

Please note that as production on this new product ramps up, you can expect up to 1-2 weeks before your 62 FLRK is shipped.
